Sally Hansen Salon Effects Rave

I've gotten a BUNCH of questions on how my nails were done in my most recent videos. From far away or in pictures they looked like rhinestones, but it's actually a houndstooth pattern! It looks like it would be difficult but it was actually the easiest process ever!

To do this I used the Sally Hansen Salon Effects Polish Strips in the houndstooth pattern. I know these aren't new, but they are new to me because I'd never used it before! I was skeptical about it because I thought they would be generically shaped and ill fitting on my nails, and I thought they would bubble or peel back after a day or two.

I have been happily proven wrong :)

The application time was incredibly fast and simple- my first time had no problems, no frustrations and no bubbling!

How to use:
1. Measure strip according to nail- various sizes are included
2. Line up the strip at the base of your nail and press down
3. Use the wooden stick to smooth down the polish as you work upwards
4. Press the polish in place for 10 seconds (they said 3, but I found it worked better longer)
5. File down excess polish and pull to remove
Finished! Here's a picture of it on my nail immediately after application:

I've had the strips on for 6 days now and there has been no chips, no peels and no bubbles since- and they've been through a TON! (Bubble baths, showers, hand washing, cleaning floors, laundry, etc!) I recommend this product to anyone- I would especially recommend this if you're going to use a dark color or a glitter. This way it'll just be a simple effect, not a polish that stains your nails or is difficult to remove.

Personally I wouldn't do this on more than my king nails, I like the effect to spice up an outfit or create a little contrast- but two hands full of this might look crazy. That's just my opinion though, try it out and see how you like it!

Hope this helped and let me know if you'd like more reviews on products like this that I find and love!

April Clothing Haul

Items pictured (linked where available)
1. Lace Hem Slip: Free People, $68, Size: S
2. Mirror Tunic: Monique Leshman, Hautelook. $200, Size: S
3. Silk shorts: Express, $59, Size: 2
4. Ruffle Cardigan: Romeo && Juliet Couture, Hautelook. Size: S
5. Pearl && Crystal sweats: Twisted Heart, Von Maur. ($122, $160) Size: S

Items not pictured:
1. White Halter swimsuit, Victoria's Secret, $54, Size: 32B
2. Black high waisted shorts, Urban Outfitters, $50, Size: S

I LOVE slips for spring- they're a great way to pair with longer tops or in place of
a simple skirt. I've been wearing mine with an oversized, off the shoulder cream sweater
to look completely relaxed && bohemian. Legwarmers and flats complete the comfy look.

This Romeo && Juliet Couture sweater was still full priced at stores
when it was on sale at Hautelook (more than 50% off!) Same with the
Monique Leshman tunic- these run for over $400 full priced.
I always tweet the sales I think you'll find interesting or helpful!

I am obsessed with twisted heart sweatsuits. I might look a little 'cool mom'
in them ...but they are one of the very few sweat brands that fit my
36" inseam.

Items Pictured (linked where available)
1. Glitter Oxford: Miu Miu, Barney's, $595, Size: 39
2. Black && White heel: Urban Outfitters, $49, Size: 9
3. Rose Gold Sandal: Jessica Simpson, Von Maur, $79, Size: 9

Items Not Pictured:
1. Lace socks, Urban Outfitters, 3 for $18 (No longer listed on site)
2. Belt, Express. (No longer listed on site)

I could not resist these glitter oxfords. They are pieces of art. Avoid looking
like a tall seven year old by staying solid and simple- I pair black and white pieces
so the silver is the main statement.

These black && white heels from Urban are my favorite to pair with
lacy black socks and tights. I always feel cute once I put these on!

Items Pictured (linked where available)
1. Wide-brimmed Wool hat: Free People, $68

Items Not Pictured:
1. Wide-brimmed black hat (as seen in banner picture): Nine West, Von Maur, $40
2. Ribbon hat: Von Maur, $210

I usually love some form of hat in the spring, but this season I'm LOVING
the wide, floppy hat. The felt or wool kind (as pictured above) is great with
a loose tunic and either boots or high socks. The wide brimmed black straw
hat of mine is my favorite to dress up- little black dresses are it's perfect companion.

Hats are a great accessory to throw on that instantly dramatize your outfit
while disguising how little effort you put into your hair. Little pieces like this
save you tons of time but draw way more attention to you!

I plan on wearing these with dresses, relaxed outfits, AND by the pool- complete with
bikini and oversized sunglasses. They protect your face from the sun while looking
awesome. Try one on- you will instantly feel powerful in one of these wide-brimmed pieces!

If you like the look but don't want to invest in an expensive piece, TJ Maxx
actually had a BUNCH of cute versions in tons of different colors- some
were only $14. My sister found a wide-brimmed black version with
a white stripe (very Hepburn-esque) and a straw hat with a black ribbon.
Then you won't feel too bad about purchasing if you end up wearing
it only once or twice!

Baby Beauty Haul && Review- April

Items Pictured:
1. Hot Pink Polish, China Glaze, 'Shocking Pink', Ulta, $5.50
2. Pink Gloss, MAC PlusGlass, 'Girl <3 Boy', Nordstroms, $18
3. Pink Chrome Polish, Sally Hansen Color Quick Pen, Pink Chrome, Ulta, $7
4. Pink LipStick, MAC Sheen Supreme, Behave Yourself, Nordstroms, $14.50
5. Cream Blush, MAC Cremeblend, Ladyblush, Nordstroms, $19.50

I've never used China Glaze polish before, so no review on the product yet.

The plushglass from MAC has a tingle to it (not instant, began to develop a few minutes after applying). I love glosses with mint or a slight tingle to them- nothing painful though! I HATED Lip Venom (The girl working at the MAC counter (Jessica) and I talked about how we had both tried it and hated it! She recognized me from my videos! So if you're reading this Jessica hi and thank you so much for all of your help!)

Sally Hansen is the only brand of chrome polish so far that I know and like, but I can longer find her actual chrome bottles- only these pens (which I despise). The pen is smart in thought, but terrible in reality. You can't control the amount of product and the brush dries/hardens, or in my case, completely bends and is unusable. But I wanted a pink chrome polish so I will hope this time works out better!

I haven't tried the sheen supreme sticks from MAC, but I do like this color. It's a toned down version (on me atleast) of the quite cute pink stick. I wanted a bright pink lipstick ever since gaga's version came out, but I've been too nervous to wear it myself! I love the way it looks in photos though so I'm going to make myself wear it!

The cremeblend ladyblush is my favorite product from MAC- I've had my original so long that I literally have nothing left to it! I went to buy another but they had to ship it to me, so I don't have it yet- but I'm so NERVOUS because the formula has been changed! I hope the color is no different than before because it was my all time absolute FAVORITE blush.
Items Pictured:
1. Bronze Polish, Revlon, Copper Penny, Ulta, $4
2. Self Tanner, Toni Brattin 'Tan Fabulous', ShopNBC, $19.59

The polish really does look like a penny- I wanted it to be more 'rose gold' seeming on my nails, so I'm a little disappointed by the finely milled gold glitter running through the product. I'm looking for more of a chrome shine as opposed to a shimmery glitter finish. The search continues!

This tanner was the most insane experience I've EVER had with a beauty product! Completely terrifying and different while still positive! This formula truly left NO streaks and a glow after only a few minutes. Not to be used for a deep, intense self tan- this is more of a wash of a light, sunkissed color. Full review in the video :)
Items Pictured:
1. Mascara, Lancome L'Oscillation in Black, $30, Nordstroms

My favorite mascara of all time. I'm sorry I ever left you.

Outfit of the Day #14

What I'm Wearing (linked where available):
1. Oversized White T, Joe's Jeans, Small, Hautelook
2. High waisted leather belt leggings, Hackley && Jameson, Small, Hautelook
3. Strap heels, Industry, Size 9, Hautelook
4. Bow clutch, Kate Spade,
5. Charm necklace, Pick Up Sticks (gifted)
6. Bead bracelet, Tiffany & Co.
7. Silver watch, Gucci
8. Bow ring, gift
9. Silver nail polish, 'Silver Sweep', Sally Hansen Quick Dry

I accidentally happen to be wearing all items purchased off of HauteLook (at different sales). I usually tweet whenever a sale I'm interested in is up, because once it's done they're gone forever! It's hit or miss on this website- I usually find nothing, but then randomly I'll find pieces that I'm in love with (like the ones shown above). I'll always let you know what I'm finding and when it's up though :)

Man of the Moment
I always edit my own photos, but I told you guys that I would be having different friends taking pictures for my blog (they're all SO different and unique- I can't wait to see what kind of pictures we come up with!).

Thanks to Char for shooting these pictures for me :) Char is an artist, is fluent in more languages than I can remember and was also a male model in Japan (seriously, he's been in a music video. Check him out. He's going to be so mad at me! Haha) (No, but really, click here to see him on twitter) He was also my dance partner/male interest in my Aldo "Let's Dance" video (click to watch). Taking these were SO much fun. He always has me laughing :) I even managed to catch a photo with the elusive Charmander..
