DIY Valentine Rose Pens

Hello, Gorgeous

Valentine's Day is one of my favorite days of the year! What's not to love about.. well.. LOVE! And flowers, and candy, and pink && red, and hearts, and cheesy decorations!?! UGH I love all of it :)

I think people get upset about Valentine's because maybe you don't have that 'special person' in your life or you're currently single (aka fabulous), but that doesn't mean you can't celebrate too! I give gifts to EVERYONE I love on this special day- friends AND family included.

You know how everyone gave homemade gifts and cards in kindergarten to all their friends? Yeah, well, I never stopped. My crafts just got a lot more advanced.

The wonderful thing about these is that they look like flowers- the typical, perfect valentine present- but these last forever AND are useful! They are pens!

Instead of the usual roses in water, these are rose pens in candy hearts! You can eat the 'water' and keep the pens! Or just display the item on your desk as long as you'd like!

I once had a set of flower pens that I kept on a shelf in my bedroom when I was younger. They were always so PRETTY to look at, I had to try and recreate them myself- and what better gift to give!? I made this for my mom and my sister. I always make my mom different presents each year, and my sister works in an office so these are perfect to sit on her desk!

I'll post a video tutorial on how to create these pens, but the items you need are:

1. Fake flowers (they don't HAVE to be roses, you can get creative! Match your ribbon to your flower of choice)
2. Cheap ballpoint pens (you can get them in bags for $1.99)
3. Floral Stem tape ($1.99 at craft stores, but imagine my shock when I discovered it wasn't actually sticky..)
4. Glue stick (to keep the 'tape' in place)
5. Vase
6. Candy hearts
7. Ribbon

These end up costing under $20 overall and are definitely a unique present.

Spritz 'em with perfume- they'll smell just as good :)

So don't be depressed on Valentine's day! Celebrate LOVE and every single person you care about :)

Fabulous Find

Hello, Gorgeous

So I've been accustomed to finding items that resemble higher end pieces- larger stores and less expensive brands always emulate popular trends, and this segment of my blog will be dedicated to showing you pieces I find that resemble their pricier counterparts! I'll show you what's fabulous... and my find :)

Today's piece isn't exactly a 'designer piece'- but still, a more expensive brand, and a style that is no longer sold by them- but now is available for much cheaper!

1. Ruffled Jacket, Free People. Nordstroms, $100+ (Purchased over a year ago)
2. Ruffled Jacket, Nordstroms, $38 (in store now- linked to page)

I purchased my Free People ruffled jacket back in september of 2009- about a year and a half ago. It also came in black, and cost over $100. I've worn this jacket in videos on my old channel and I always had to tell everyone that it was no longer sold when asked about it- but now it's been remade- and for cheaper! When I saw this in store I knew I immediately had to show you (for those who asked about the old one)! So, in case you couldn't purchase the original or didn't want to spend the money- here's a new, cheaper version in stores now!

Also, TARGET has their own version right now! I saw it in store today, I looked for a picture online, but none were available. Their version is also in cream, same shape and silhouette- with an eyelit ruffle instead.

Let me know if you would like this to be a re-occuring segment!

I Want It My Way #2

Hello, Gorgeous

This is the second installment in my blog series "I Want It My Way"- where I show you something I'm in LOVE with but unfortunately do not own :( whenever I see something absolutely fabulous during my online shopping that I want and know exactly how I'd wear it! So what's the subject of my intense desire today?! Ohhh let me show you!

1. Crystal Cuff, Philippe Audibert, NetaPorter.com, $1,170
2. Plain white tee ($20, Victoria's secret)
3. 3/4 sleeve black boyfriend/relaxed blazer (mine was $60 from Von Maur, purchased last year)
4. Skinny jeans, Rock && Republic (mine were purchased 2+ years ago)
5. Heeled black sandals, Jimmy Choo, Netaporter.com, $950

ARE YOU IN LOVE YET?

Oh, how I want you! If you've seen my recent videos, you know of a rose gold cuff I just purchased (worn in this video, and this one) and that I'm LOVING cuffs for spring! They are awesome statement pieces that can change your entire outfit! They're a little edgy, a little unexpected ...and completely fabulous.

WHY MUST YOU BE SO PRETTY?

The rose cuff I purchased was from TJ Maxx and was only around $30- MUCH more reasonable than this $1,000 version. My cuff has the same circular detailing and make- so it's definitely frustrating to see a piece very similar but SO much more expensive! I'm hoping stores catch on to this style and create a more affordable piece.

Also, I know this segment is meant to be an item I want paired with pieces I already own- but instead of pairing it with a picture of my already owned black heeled sandals, I found these while browsing on Net-A-Porter (that site will be the death of me) and I developed a MAJOR shoe crush on this version. I have no words to describe how incredible these are. (So, they really should be at the top of this photo as well. I love themmm).

Everyone knows about the typical spring trends- color blocking, bell bottoms, blah blah. Lilly Pulitzer has been color blocking us for ages and I just won't wear extreme flares- sorry, playa. This spring, I'm gravitating towards exciting jewelry (rhinestone cuffs) and skin tones (peaches, roses, creams).

This sequined glove makes me want to release my inner Michael Jackson.

Dear cuff:
I want to love you...
...pretty young thing.

My first time

Hello, Gorgeous

For everyone aware of my bubble bath obsession, this post might seem impossibly shocking. So I'll admit that I had never used a product from LUSH (that is, until tonight). How is this possible, you ask? IDK really. I had never even HEARD of the store until I noticed the name constantly appearing in posts from my girl friends on Youtube. I thought it was just an LA thing or a tiny boutique that only the cool kids knew about it, until I saw a sign for it in the Macy's at a mall near me. (I'm embarassed for myself, really. I pride myself on my shopping obsession and I had no idea this store was even IN my mall? Fail).

So after my initial browsing (I was terrified, overwhelmed, nauseated even from the overwhelming scent) I asked on twitter what products were the best to try... enter my new obsesssion:

Sex bomb.

I blame my new addiction on my friend, Holly (Hollyannaeree on Youtube, click here for her channel). She told me this particular bomb was her absolute favorite. I'd already seen her mention it in earlier tweets, and usually we like a lot of the same things so I figured this would be a pretty safe bet.

I instantly liked this one in comparison to the other bombs for sale because of it's coloring and obvious flowering. It's just so PRETTY! So I explained to the sales lady what I liked (Vanilla. Lots and lots of VANILLA) and she was telling me about all their new valentines day options (some ginger man that's supposed to be an ex that you break and yell at? lady, I just want to chill... not channel my anger by decapitating some fake soap man) so I interrupted her awkwardly by turning to my sister and saying "BUT HOLLY LIKES SEX BOMB". ...I obviously can never return to the same location now that I sound like I have an imaginary friend.

So if you're a lush newb like me, here are some pictures of the bomb actually in action in my favorite place- my bath tub! :)

SO PRETTY. I put it in when the water was at halfway and let it fizz as it filled.

How can you not instantly be happy with a pink bath!? It probably made me wayyy happier than it should, but that's why it's awesome! (I mean... I took pictures of it I was so excited. Big L over here)

THIS IS THE BEST. After the bomb is finished, the rose petals stay in your water- so you're left with a deliciously smelling, beautiful looking, ridiculously pretty bath complete with rose petals. Light some candles and feel special now.

So my first time was everything I hoped: a little overwhelming, a little unexpected, and I'm ready for more :)

January Haul && Review

Hello, Gorgeous

It's the end of the month AGAIN!? I feel like I JUST finished my december haul- where did this month go?! As always, January has been dark..freezing.. and of course, fabulous. I capped the majority of this month's makeup haul in the post below (my Rock and Republic HauteLook purchases) but here's the rest of this month's damage...

(linked where available)
1. Crystallized White Dress, BCBG, Size XS, Original Price: $448 (Purchased for $300)
2. Navy Sequin-Sleeve Tunic, FCUK, Size 8, (Gift from my mom!)Sale price: $125
3. Sable/Plum shadow duo- NARS, Brousse, (Gift from Gina) Price: $33
4. Pink Gloss, Rock && Republic Luxe Gloss 'LoudMouth', (HauteLook) Price: $10.40
5. Shadows, Rock && Republic, Favorite: 'Exile', (HauteLook) Price: $12
6. Mousse Foundation, Boots No7 in Buff 15, Target. Price: $13.99
7. Chapstick, Carmex, Walgreens. $2.99

Not pictured: MAC False Lashes mascara, $18.00 (I Had a $20 gift card to Nordstroms, so not too big of a loss seeing as I didn't like it)

My general rule is that winter is over once my birthday is over. So this gives me no steep decline from lack of celebration- instead, now I get to look forward to warm weather and floaty fabrics. Here are my most recent sure to be spring favorites..

1. Peach Gloss, Rock && Republic 'Runaway', Hautelook, Price: $10.40
2. Slip dress, Alice && Olivia, Shopbop, Price: $290 (Birthday gift)
3. Peachy Pink tint, Burt's Bees 'Pink Blossom' Walgreens, $7.00
4. Embellished Peach Tee, Haute Hippie, Nordstroms, Sale price: $120

I'm loving this peach color for spring, especially with warmer skin tones. It's flattering on most every color, it's feminine and it's a complete contrast from all the black my winter wardrobe has seen.

Not pictured: My rose tone cuff from TJ Maxx, Purchased for $30! (Perhaps the best find of the entire month!)

If you'd like in detail description of each item, how it fits, what I think about it, click here to watch the video.

What are you most looking forward to now that spring is approaching? Odd that as I type this my city is under warning for one of the  most supposed outrageous blizzards. I'm wearing 30 layers while typing about peach dresses. Chicago, you kill me.
